Diving into the luxury industry with visits, conferences and expert panels

Luxury seminars to comprehend the full scope of the luxury industry

After immersing themselves in the luxury industry of previous centuries with a visit to the Château de Versailles at the beginning of the academic year, students worked on more contemporary challenges thanks to different seminars on topics linked to the jewelry sector, the luxury market in Indialuxury etiquette and luxury retail. Guest speakers conducting these seminars included Binita Cooper, Consultant and Specialist in Brand Strategy, Luxury Goods and Services, Anne Debard, Expert on French etiquette, hospitality management, commerce and luxury sector as well as Delphine Vitry, Partner and Founder of Mad Network, a French consulting firm specialised in luxury retail.

Understanding the impact of digitalisation in this sector

In December, students went to IBM’s Client Center in Paris to talk about the impact of digitalisation on the luxury sector and customer experience with industry professionals. IBM representatives present during this roundtable included Marie-Axelle Loustalot-Forest, Omnichannel Retail Subject Matter Expert, Arnaud Filloux, Associate Partner IBM GBS - Luxury Industry Leader, Sheila O’Hara, Industry Solution Architect, Global Industry Solution Center and Valérie Maure-Faugere, Partner - Head of Distribution Sector in Europe IBM Interactive Experience.

Getting inspired by meeting renowned luxury professionals

What’s more is that as part of the programme, students meet on regular basis with high-end representatives during Expert Panels.

As the beginning of January, Richemont, one of the leading global luxury goods companies, held an Expert Panel in Paris followed by a cocktail reception. During this event, students met with Geoffroy de la Bourdonnaye, CEO Chloé International, Stanislas de Quercize, CEO Richemont France and Donna Bernard, Director Executive Recruitment Richemont France.

MSc in Luxury Management & Marketing students also had the unique opportunity to meet two emlyon business school alumni now working in the luxury sector: Joëlle Pellegrin, CEO of Vanity Fair Brand Lingerie and Christophe Venot, Fragrance Brand Director at Travel Retail Worldwide, L’Oréal.

Company visits to get fully immersed in the industry

Students also recently visited embroidery house Ecole Lesage, part of Chanel!

Lesage has been creating embroidery requiring countless hours of work and exceptional skills in the sector of Haute Couture since its creation in 1924. The company also launched a school in 1992 enabling those who are passionate about embroidery to develop their expertise in this sector.

The students learned about the history of embroidery and the Maison Lesage and visited different workshops.
