Graduate Anne Charlotte tells us how the European Master in Management track shaped her consulting career

Anne Charlotte Depardieu, 2011 graduate is an FSI Finance Transformation Senior Consultant at Deloitte Consulting France, assisting CFOs in dealing with large transformation projects within their firms. Anne Charlotte tells us about her experience of the Double Degree track and how it helped her in her career.

How important is a masters for an international management career, in your opinion?

Before joining the MSc in Management Double Degree European Master in Management track, I had completed a bachelor in Finance at a French university, during which I was able to study all sorts of academic topics extensively. However, after graduating and doing a few internships I felt like I lacked a more pragmatic approach to the business world. For me, having a masters was a great way to obtain a more holistic skill set and be quickly operational when starting a new job.

How did the Double Degree track help you in your career?

To be honest, my current job is pretty similar to what I did at EMLYON Business School. As a consultant, you get to change topics, teams and clients every few months. During my two years as a student, I had to work on different projects with people from different cultures and different backgrounds. All the group case studies taught me how to be efficient, quick on my feet and convincing when presenting to the rest of the class. This is what I do for a living! It means I got 2 extra training years to try out presentation techniques, understand group dynamics, how to present in front of an audience and in a foreign language. This really helped me managing the stress during my first year as a Junior Consultant.

What advice would you give to current students or people considering the European Master in Management track?

I would insist on the fact Double Degree tracks such as the European Master in Management one are fantastic opportunities in terms of resources. You will benefit from the infrastructures of leading business schools at once! You should try to leverage this as much as you can when writing your thesis, looking for your internships or your first job or, at the end of the day, networking altogether. It will make a difference!
