Translate Theory into Practice

Each semester features project-based learning to translate theory into a real-life setting. A team of faculty members will accompany you in these projects, providing you both with the support and the guidance you need to make your projects a success.

  • Build Your Network Through Practical Learning

Ongoing seminars and conferences throughout the program introduce you to internationally acclaimed designers, industry innovators, and leaders of the profession through both institutions’ unparalleled network of friends and contacts.
Among others, previous cohorts have met with high-end representatives of the Sofitel Bellecour Lyon, AccorHotels Group, ClubMed, Hyatt International, Hilton Worldwide, Oetker Collection, Plaza Athénée, Alain Ducasse Enteprises etc.

  • Concept Design & Creation Project: The Pop Up Restaurant (Semester 1 in Lyon-Ecully)

This course provides students with a blueprint for the successful opening of a concept restaurant.  The course is delivered in conjunction with Hospitality Entrepreneurship, preparing students for the Concept Design and Development project at the end of the second semester.
From the very start of the program, you are involved in an Entrepreneurial Business Project and create a virtual company from scratch within a team. From managing the entire entrepreneurial process, to turning your idea into a business plan, and reaching out to the business world to get feedback, you develop the entrepreneurial mindset that is key to your future success, regardless of whether you create your own company or work for a firm.

  • Hotel Development Project (Semester 2 in Paris)

This interactive immersive project challenges you and your team to develop a hospitality concept that is both innovative and grounded. Guided by experienced industry professionals who provide a schematic framework for project planning and development, you will present a fully functional conceptual model supported by marketing and financial data.

  • The In-Company Project In Asia (Semester 3 in Shanghai)

This project, based on a real problem facing a company in the hospitality industry, is a tutored consulting mission undertaken by groups of 6 to 8 students (with each group featuring at least one Chinese student from East China Normal University) utilizing a precise methodology involving a detailed case study necessitating interviews with the company and/or customers and/or suppliers. You will work as a a consultant to a hospitality company, apply the knowledge gained throughout the program, and benefit from hands-on experience in an international environment.

Examples of missions students from this year’s cohort have worked on as part of the project:

- working on market research and defining how to create a successful hotel opening
- conducting studies on food safety
- helping companies redefine brand strategies
- understanding financial performance, brand perception and distribution
- analysing how millennials can contribute to sustainability in the hotel business.
