A dedicated “Luxury Week” in Asia

Every year, the students of the MSc in Luxury Management & Marketing start their semester on EMLYON’s Asian Campus in Shanghai with a “Luxury Week”, an event organised by Michel Phan, Director of the MSc in Luxury Management & Marketing at EMLYON Business School. This year, the week-long event started off with a Luxury Treasure Hunt around Shanghai, a wine tasting session, a Master Class given by Professor of Fashion Marketing Enju Ko (Yonsei University) about the Korean luxury market and a cocktail party on the rooftop of Le Meridien Hotel in Shanghai.

The students also spent a day at the LuxePack Shanghai Exhibition, the premier show for creative packaging in the luxury industry. During the exhibition, they met with Marketing Project Manager Nathalie Morel who explained the concept behind this show and talked about the leading packaging manufacturers in the industry.

Michel Phan also organised for Strategic Planner and Consultant Laure-Anne Germond from Centdegrés Design Company to present the agency to the students. The Luxury Week ended with a visit of the Qeelin store in Shanghai, an international fine jewellery brand blending Chinese inspiration and French craftsmanship, and a presentation of the company by General Manager Sophia Wu.

“I absolutely loved the welcome cocktail party on the rooftop of Le Meridien as it enabled me to talk with alumni and professors in a nice environment. The next day, we had a treasure hunt, which was very exciting because I discovered Shanghai and its luxury retail areas, which is by the way very different from those in France and Western Europe in general. On top of that, I really had fun while learning!

The LuxePack event was great too because we were able to talk with Cent Degrés and understand their company, their vision and their activities. It was also impressive because it enabled us to see how important and complex the packaging industry is. Finally, the Director Qeelin China talked about the brand and took us to the stores to present the collections. Qeelin is such a rich and interesting brand so it was a great moment. Also, we were able to try on and take pictures of these amazing pieces, which was very exciting.” – Sophie Caillaud, a current student of the programme

"Apart from the treasure hunt which was innovative and interesting, Qeelin was by far the highlight of the luxury week as the General Manager gave a great presentation about the company. She also gave us insightful advice to keep in mind as we're about to start our career in the luxury industry."Candice Cutinha,a current student of the programme
