“One Day in Paris” event: Touring world-renowned 5-star hotels

During their special luxury day in Paris, MSc in Luxury Management & Marketing students visited the Hotel Scribe and the Sofitel Paris at the Arc de Triomphe.

Students were given tours of the hotels by Guest Relation Managers and met key representatives of the Hotel Scribe and Sofitel Paris – Arc de Triomphe including Auriane Galzin, Guest Experience Manager, Lydérick Jadaud, Restaurant Director, Raphael de Faria,  Finance Director, Corinne Pelois, HR Director, Stéphane Gerbet, Operations Director, Agathe Grimald, Client Experience Director, and Thomas Bruno, Head Chef.

While they are both luxurious 5-star hotels part of the Sofitel Group, these two hotels have a different history and therefore a different feel to them. The Hotel Scribe is an authentic hotel built in 1861 which was home to the prestigious Jockey Club where countless personalities shaped its renown, such as the Duke de Morny, the Prince of Sagan, Marcel Proust and Josephine Baker. The Sofitel Paris – Arc de Triomphe has more of a sophisticated ambiance attached to it and it is close to the Champs-Elysées and luxury boutiques. The Haussmann exterior of this hotel “par excellence” houses an interior designed in collaboration with world-famous designer Studio Putman.

Visiting these sumptuous establishments allowed students to understand how to navigate the luxury hotel business and the importance of rigour and excellence in this unique environment. Furthermore discussing with key representatives of the hotel industry helped to students develop their professional network in a practical setting.
