Welcome to the 2014 intake of the MSc in Sports Industry Management!

The official opening ceremony of the MSc in Sports Industry Management  took place on Monday September 8th 2014 on EMLYON’s European Campus, marking the start of the students’ journey in the programme!

Like every year, the MSc in Sports Industry Management welcomes international students from many different backgrounds and professional horizons. The nationalities represented in the class include Chinese, Colombian, French, German, South African, and Spanish.

The first portion of the programme takes place on EMLYON’s European Campus and will end in December, after which the students will head off to the Alps, in Annecy, the heart of the European sports and outdoor industry. From January to the end of March, the students will study management as it specifically applies to the sports industry and learn from industry experts including Pascal Clausse, the VP of Global Retail at Salomon and Jean-Luc Diard, the President of Outdoor Sports Valley - official programme partner. The third part of the programme takes place on EMLYON’s Asian Campus in Shanghai where the students will learn about the Asian sports market and discover a new cultural and business environment.

After the opening ceremony and an academic presentation of the programme, the students spent three days in Annecy where they visited Salomon, the Scott, Helly Hansen and Merrell Showrooms and learned more about Amer Sports. They also had a few team building activities including a hike to La Clusaz, StandUp Paddle on the Annecy Lake and a bike ride on the lake shores. Furthermore, Outdoor Sports Valley organised a dinner for the students during which they got to know each other and met Julie Couttolenc, a graduate of the MSc in Sports Industry Management interning with Créations Fusalp in Annecy.

All of the students are sports and outdoor passionates and we wish them all the best for their future endeavors in the programme!
