Welcome to the 2015 intake of the MSc in Sports Industry Management!

The new cohort first arrived on EMLYON’s European campus on Monday September 7th for the school’s grand opening ceremony. During the ceremony, Bernard Belletante, Dean of EMLYON Business School, gave an inspiring speech to all incoming cohorts explaining that EMLYON Business School will help students become who they want to be!

Furthermore, students had the unique opportunity to hear from Tony Parker, world-renowned basketball player who is also the President of Lyon’s basketball arena, home to the ASVEL team, through a video testimonial. Gaëtan Muller, Vice-President of the ASVEL Club and Tony Parker’s right-hand man, as well as EMLYON students and alumni also came to share their experience with incoming intakes.

The next day, students attended an academic presentation of the programme given by Pascal Aymar, Programme Director, who gave the students more information about the journey they are embarking on.  The new cohort also enjoyed team building activities such as run & bike, slackline, golf, rock climbing, beach volleyball and archery over at Miribel Jonage, a park located outside of Lyon.

Like every year, the MSc in Sports Industry Management welcomes international students hailing from many different backgrounds and professional horizons. The countries represented in the class are Algeria, Austria, Canada, France, Germany, India, Italy, Lebanon, South Africa.

Hear what Yassin M., current participant of the programme, says about the first week:
"What I really liked about the first week, was that the cohort immediately has behaved like a team and that everyone wanted to be part of the group. And the integration day in Mirabel was a blast".

The first portion of the programme takes place on EMLYON’s European campus and will end in December, after which the students will head off to the Alps, in Annecy, the heart of the European sports and outdoor industry. From January to the end of March, the students will study management as it specifically applies to the sports industry and learn from industry experts including Pascal Clausse, the VP of Global Retail at Salomon, Jean-Luc Diard, Founder of Hoka and President of Outdoor Sports Valley (official programme partner), Anti Karava, Marketing Director of Columbia Europe, as well as Jérôme Elbaz, Managing Director France of The North Face. The third part of the programme takes place on EMLYON’s Asian Campus in Shanghai where the students will learn about the Asian sports market and discover a new cultural and business environment.

We wish the students good luck for their future endeavors in the programme!
