Discover Tom’s internship in a Finance department in Germany

Tom, current student of the MSc in Management – European Triple Degree – Grande Ecole, tells us about his first experience as a trainee in the Finance and Regulatory department in a German bank.

“For my internship from  April to September, I am working in the Finance and Regulatory department at Solaris Bank AG. This bank was founded in Berlin in 2016 and has quickly risen to be one of the most valuable German fintechs. This self-styled “tech company with a banking license” offers banking as a platform, which allows  the seamless integration of financial services into existing businesses, with a long-term focus on creating a global ecosystem for said financial services.

As an intern, I am nonetheless treated as a fully-fledged team member, and have been included in tasks as diverse as the preparation of monthly income statements and balance sheets, to the creation and controlling of outgoing invoices, as well as the conception of presentations for management and supervisory board members. The firm's culture is incredibly welcoming, fast growing, and international, with colleagues from 25 different nationalities. In this, and many other aspects, the MSc in Management – European Triple Degree – Grande Ecole has prepared me well for the challenges I faced in the first two months here. I look forward to spending the summer working here, before returning to Munich at Ludwig Maximilian Universität to specialise in Strategy and Change Management.”
