In the past few months, the students of the MSc in Sports Industry Management programme attended industry-specific Expert Panels. Each panel was organised with a different sports management professional who presented his field of expertise and professional experience to the cohort. Expert Panels are great opportunities for students to directly interact with industry professionals and understand for themselves what working in the sports industry entails.
“The expert panels give an insight into the career of a senior manager in the sports industry. I discovered the different career paths that led to these key positions and I now have a better understanding of the different roles these professionals play in their respective companies. We talked openly about different topics and issues, about how to manage our future career and how to best optimize the internship and job hunt for a position in a sport company.” – Matthieu Prudhomme, a current student of the MSc in Sports Industry Management
Since October 2013, the students of the programme took part in Expert Panels given by Antoine Ballon, former Global Marketing Director of Wilson Sporting Goods, Bernard Liatti, President and CEO of Vuarnet, Patrice Hutin, President of Exponentiel and former President of Callaway Golf. The students also recently met with Nicolas Odinet, Marketing Manager at Gore-Tex (textile company specialised in designing outerwear products made out of a special waterproof and windproof fabric) and Jérémie Gossart, former rugby player and Founder and CEO of IOX Tour, International Travel Agency fostering sports and outdoor activities. During his presentation Jérémie Gossart highlighted the importance of developing a professional network in the sports industry and encouraged the students to start building their own network today.
