Meet Francesco, future student of the Specialised Programme in Quantitative Finance!

Tell us a bit about your background

I grew up in Brescia, a small city at the foot of the Alps, Italy. I graduated from a BSc in Economics and a MSc in Finance and Risk Management from the University of Brescia. As a part of my master, I spent one semester at the Royal Holloway, University of London and a few months at Cass Business School, City University. After my graduation, I moved to Milan to work as Treasury Analyst for Mediobanca, the first Italian Investment bank. I also worked as Market Risk Analyst within the Asset Management industry.

Why did you decide to join the programme?

After two great work experiences, I realized which were the critical skills to go ahead in the financial industry. Both quantitative approaches and coding are nowadays required by investment banks and other financial institutions. I decided to join the Specialised Programme in Quantitative Finance because this programme is comprehensive in terms of subjects taught and strictly focuses on quantitative methods with a strong emphasis on coding. I do believe this will be the best way to improve my professional profile.

What do you expect from the programme?

I look forward to deepen my technical skills but I also want to enrich my culture by working with people from different nationalities and backgrounds. I am convinced that I will build a useful international network through this programme.  I expect that the reputation and the prestige of emlyon business school combined with the skills I gained during this year will give me an exclusive opportunity to join an internship programme within a top-level financial institution, the best way to boost my career in this industry.

Three words to describe yourself

Determined, passionate, open-minded.
